Mac Pro optical output

I can't make the Mac Pro to recognize my Logitech 5.1 system as a 5.1 system, it sees it as a two-speaker system (stereo) and show this in the sound preference: selected device has no output controls Any idea?

logitech z-5000 or whatever? if so hows the sound quality? thats the speakers i have, plan on hooking it up via the toslink.
