Help
I have a dual core 2007 macpro

-I just did an repair disk permissions
-it did not want to re start
-just a grey screen with apple logo
-hooked it up to my macbook as a firewire
-could not repair disk
-formatted MacHD
-copied from time machine but not all got copied only some random files
--still all I get now is a grey screen, sometimes with a grey folder and question mark
-tried to copy individual folders as library etc to the mac HD but only a few get copied
still just the chimes and a grey screen
took out some of the 13 gig ram and juggled with that in case one is broken

Is the hard disk bust?
Or what ?

Are you getting any diagnostic LEDs lit on the inside of your computer?

I'm not familiar with the diag LEDs on your model, but that should tell you if the CPU is borked, RAM slot is borked, etc.

When I switch it on I see a short flicker of red leds.

as for the other reply: I have a back up, I have formatted but copying does not entirely work.

After switching it on I kept hammering the eject button for 20 sec , and it openend.
Erased and reinstalled and she s working fine again.
I still want to know what went wrong though.
Thanks for your help.
