I'm just now remembering something I should have considered back when I ordered my Mac Pro...
I ordered my 8-core Mac Pro just a few days after they came out and was extremely anxious to get it, since I was upgrading from a PowerBook G4. However, when it came and I opened it, I noticed one end of the graphics card (the right DVI slot--X1900 XT) was pushed in towards the inside of the computer.
When I opened the side panel, the long graphics card was at about a 15 degree angle to the PCI express slot. Somehow, the card must have been pushed from the back, which bent the metal bracket (the piece around the DVI connectors), and forced the card out of the slot.
I pulled out the card and bent the metal back, then reseated the card. However, I noticed that during whatever event caused this, the little plastic piece on the PCI express slot that is made to hold the card in had broken off.
Once I had stuff back to normal and reseated, everything worked perfectly, and has now for over two months.
What I'm wondering is: Did I make a big mistake not bringing this up to Apple? The reason I didn't was because I was so anxious to have this computer and couldn't stand the thought of sending if off. Obviously in hindsight (now that I've had the Mac Pro for a few months) I think I should have called Apple about it. It's not effecting the performance whatsoever as far as I've experienced... but is it too late to bring it up to them?
