Hi there

So i'm currently using somebody elses Mac Pro for some tasks (3d rendering) i've been doing on my MacBook Pro and i was surprised to notice that my laptop was actually faster and i don't know why.

The Mac Pro has 2x 3ghz Xeon's, 12GB Ram, 512mb Ati Graphics Card

My Macbook Pro is 1x 2.93ghz C2D, 8GB Ram, 512mb Nvidia 9400M GT

Now i'm not using the Mac for any realtime 3d but just for it's CPU processing and i just don't understand how my single laptop Core2Duo is doing faster calculations.

???

3D rendering using what software?

This could (but seems relatively unlikely) have to do with the GPU optimization of the software as well. In such a case, better optimization for NVIDIA GPUs.
