Mac Pro smcfancontrol

So basically i want to run smcfancontrol b/c my computer runs REALLY hot in my oppinion so i have smcfancontrol downloaded and i try to run it hit ok on all the dialogue boxes seems to be going fine smc... comes up in the menu bar and then dissapears
ive tried this on my macbook aswell and it doesnt work either i think it might be software because i transfered my macbooks stuff to the mac pro

Are you using version 2?

I'm running SMCFanControl on 10.5.4 on my Mac Pro 4-core Xeon with no problems.
