Hey folks..wondering if anyone can help

Lately, at least once a day, my Mac Pro freezes up. I can move the mouse around, but I can’t click on anything or type. I’ve left it alone for at least a half hour at one point, in case some program was “just thinking” but that didn’t help. I have no idea why it’s freezing up .. when I check the error log file in my library folder after I reboot, I get this

Feb 6 12:28:35.980133 localhost discoveryd_helper[136]: Basic RemoteControl com.apple.discoveryd_helper Starting XPC Server

Anyone have any idea how I can fix that, in plain total-noob english?

I’m running 10.10.2, on an “early 2009” mac pro, 2.66 quad core xenon, 10 gigs of ram, ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB
