I've done a search, but found nothing useful.

I want to watch a DVR on my monitor, and have connected it directly to the monitor via component. Image is fine (and high def). The DVR optical audio (toslink) output is connected to the Mac Pro via toslink cable to the optical input on the back of the Mac Pro.

I'd like listen to the sound through my Mac Pro, and have Rogue Amoeba's 'Line In' free software to run the sound in a passthrough mode. Line in, and System Prefs Sound both see the 'digital sound in' option. I'm just not getting any sound.

It's been hard to find information on this. There are a million posts talking about sound card options, but almost nothing telling me whether the Comcast DVR digital toslink sound output is in some format which the Mac Pro input cannot read.

What is up with this?
