Hello everyone,

My Mac Pro seems to consume a lot of wired memory. This hasn't caused me any problems in terms of performance so far, but I'm concerned that something isn't quite right - I mean, 2.51GB of unmovable stuff hogging my RAM is just rude :p

Then there's my kernel_task, which is supposedly using 16,777,216 TB of 'real' memory. I should add that my Mac Pro regularly uses over 2GB wired memory even when the kernel_task hasn't gone loopy.

Up 2 days, OS X Server 10.4.8, 4GB Apple RAM.

Screenie attached.

My wired stays pretty low... sits around 480MB with AdiumX, Firefox and mail open. (along with my widgets, and other little extras)

What happens when you reboot?
(I assume you have)

It sounds to me like you have a memory leak in an application or 3rd party driver.
