I have Mac 10.6.8. I was on blogger, and its screen went white. I shut it down, when I turned it on the light it has when it sleeps flickered and it made an obnoxious beep. Then white screen. Help?

No, it's not a virus, since no Mac OS X viruses have ever existed in the wild. It may be a graphics or other hardware problem, but malware isn't the culprit.

Sounds like a hardware problem. Figure out what noises it is making, google for the beep codes to see if they tell you what the problem is.

Or take it to apple - but i suspect that if it is running 10.6 it is out of warranty by now(?) and may cost more to fix than it is worth.

Sorry....

Next time it does this, count the number of beeps.

The amount and/or frequency of the beeps tells you what hardware might have failed. It is not a virus.

My recommendation is take it to your nearest Apple store wether or not your computer is in warranty. If it is out of warranty, the vast majority of hardware repairs are covered under a flat fee.

It's soon going to be 10.7.4, as we are updating it.

It beeps once...

I guess a store is the only option.
