mac randomly waking up?

why is this,

12/03/14 06:06:42,000 kernel[0]: Wake reason: EC.SleepTimer (SleepTimer)

waking up my mac every hour or so?

wake on lan and power nap are disabled. there should be no activity, no app running in the background needing internet.

what is sleep timer?
