i have windows 7 installed on a boot camp partition and when i run it a red light omming out of the headphone jack and the fan doesn't work...any help?

The red light coming out of the headphones jack is for the S/PDIF digital audio out, it shouldn't hurt to have it turned on. However there should be an option to turn it off.

The instructions below work on my Windows laptop.
Try right clicking on the speaker icon and choose playback devices.
Then depending on which playback devices you see in the list click on them and press the properties button.
In the properties go to the Custom tab and uncheck the S/PDIF Enable checkbox.

However for me, on my Mac Pro the S/PDIF is always on even under OSX.

I don't quite understand the comment about the fan, is the fan not working?
