Ok so, I manage a lot of Debian servers that perform daily backups. Some of our customers have their servers backup to Macs. The files backup properly (we use smbclient to move the files) but the issue arrises when I try and pull the files back with smbclient. The files never come back as the right size from Macs, for instance a 350Mb database will come back as 125MB on the Debian server from the Mac. I know the files are transfering to the Mac fine, the file size and hash match, it is just trying to pull the files back that is causing the problem.

When I have ssh access to the Mac I can just login and push them back using SCP and everything works fine, but in some instances I do not have SSH rights to the server and get a bit stuck when retrieving files. Any advice on what issues with samba could be causing this? The samba version on the Macs is 3.0.10, on the Debian servers it is 3.5.6

A potential coincidence, but, it seems all of the servers so far are G5 systems running 10.4.11
