Mac Serial # info , like car Vin#??

if you want to buy a used mac from someone, is there a way to call up apple and see how many times it's been in for repair, if you have the SN or some other identifier?

Yes, they are easy to track, just punch it into the Apple Support Page, or call Apple Care.
