Mac Software Update does not progress at all!!

This's been an issue for about two weeks now. That's when I had my last software update. However, since then I can't seem to get the software update working. Each time, the progress bar does not progress at all (!)

Using the disk utility, I tried disk check/verify but the problem still persist.
As it stands, I am unable to automatically update mac os with software update. I know I can do manual but I'm quite cheezed off with a brand new apple, I should be able to really fix this problem!!

It would help if you posted the software update version which you think caused the problem and the version of OS X you are running.

I'd suggest getting the latest COMBO updater from the Apple site ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate.html for 10.5.6), install it then do the updates if it says updates are needed. Good luck.

It's 10.5.6... last update I've made was on 2nd of Feb!

Try the update with the combo updater again.
