How do you guys use solidworks? I have to use it, and I tried to install the latest version on my old PC. I didn't want to install Windows on my Mac.

To my surprise, it didn't install (2015 student version) because I didn't have a 64bits machine. I said fine, and installed the 2014 version, that supports 32 bits. To my surprise, it doesn't support Windows 8/8.1.

I forgot how installing stuff and using Windows can be a pain. Talk about fragmentation. Why sell 32 bit windows on the first place?

At this point I gave up on my old PC, and I'm thinking of disabling filevault 2 so I can use bootcamp and install windows 8.1 64 bit.

Before I do it, it is possible to run solidworks through parallels with a 64bit installation of windows 8.1? Is bootcamp really the best option?
