Try repairing permissions and verifying the disk using the Mac OS X disk (Hold C down at startup)

This is a Mac forum, and Mac problems are what we are here for.
What Mac and what Mac OS X version are you running?
Do you still have the restore DVDs or an Upgrade DVD with you, which you could use to troubleshoot and maybe repair permissions with?

I assume its the newest version snow leopard?
I dont believe i have the disk on me. I have applications disk on me but thats it i think
The newest version of Mac OS X is Snow Leopard. The Applications DVD won't do you much good for this issue. Can you try a PRAM reset?
The restore DVDs are gray, number one has the OS on it, number two has additional applications on it.
The Upgrade DVD is white with a Snow Leopard on it.
If you have the restore DVDs use DVD on to boot from while holding C during startup and then use Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu to repair permissions.
