What would apple drop os updates with the studio ?

Im asking because killer deals on these right now. Example: 64gb/1TB, 10ghz ether $1499 compared to a mini M4 32gb/1TB, 10Ghz ether $1499.

i have a Mac Studio M2. Want to upgrade my iMac late 2014 4k retina.

The M1 better gpu performance for rendering vs better cpu performance fir the mini. Im not a gamer or heavy 3D modeling.

At 73 yrs old, probably will be my last upgrade. Of course never say never lol

Well I have a high spec M1 Max MBP16.
I was considering the M4 Pro, since my MacBook never leaves the desk anyways, but after watching online performance videos (not the biased 'reviews) it seems the M1 Max can still easily keep up (and beat the M4 Pro with exporting/rendering due to its stronger GPU).
I personally would rather the Studio over a Mac Mini for the extra ports etc. If you can find a Studio at a good price, I'd say go for it. I don't think Apple will drop OS support for their own architecture for a while yet.....

Yep, thankx for you input. At that p[ricing, don't see any reason not to. cheers and happy thankxgiving !!

It depends on your system requirements. You have a Mac Studio already, do you need a 2nd Studio? If you're replacing an iMac what do you need 32GB RAM for, much less 64GB? Consider a Mac mini M4 16/512 for $799 with a 2TB or 4TB Thunderbolt NVMe which would run perhaps $300 or less. Or even 24GB RAM would be just $200 more, still less than the studio "Deal" with a lot more storage.

The studio is a "Good deal" but I do expect M1 will lose updates 2 to 4 years ahead of M4, so spending less on a Mini today could net even MORE savings once that happens. 73 is the new 65, so don't count on this being your last upgrade!

Heck, even consider a M4 iMac - save the cost of an external display. If you are happy with the 21.5" 4K display, the 24" 4.5K should work really well!
