At start up on my new Mac Studio M4 Max with a new Studio Display the white Apple logo dips down to the right (at approx 50% of progress bar) and then immediately goes back to the normal centre position but is a different size. ( larger )

I have my resolution set to 2048 x 1152 to suit my vision better. If I set the resolution to default then the start up is straight forward and the Apple logo doesn't move. If I change the the resolution to any of the other options and restart then the logo jumps to a different position depending which one is selected and shows as a different size also for each resolution setting chosen.

I have also started in safe mode and this does not happen which makes me think that it's the Mac Studio that has some possible glitch and not the Studio Display.

Apple support (online chat and call back) said that others are having the same issue and said that Engineering think it's a software issue and are looking at it.

I have reinstalled Sequoia OS on their advice but it's still happening.

Any thoughts on whether it's a known Mac Studio software or a Studio Display issue?

I was advised to book a Genius Bar appointment ( they really should re-think that name ) as all that they said was that Macs often have start up issues such as screens turning pink but they don't know why.. and some Macs just behave differently than others but again they don't know why.. this really didn't boost my confidence in their technicians. Didn't even test the computer whilst we were there.

I am hoping that it's simply adjusting to the "non default" resolution before the desk top screen is shown. Previously had an 27" iMac, again set with the same resolution 2048 x 1152 but this didn't have the same moving logo ever.

Just wondering if anyone here has any suggestions / experience of this to settle the mind of a relatively newbie to the Apple mac experience.

Cheers

Bernard

I wanted to see if changing screen settings and restarting would do what you're describing. Yes, it did and it's very strange.

I did find this reddit post from four years ago with a similar issue, but that's all I could find with a quick search. The OP of that post also later added a post saying "Today I discover that If I disable the auto logging there’s no issue."

Not sure exactly what that means, maybe others will chime in to possibly clarify.

Thanks for your help. Have you got the same set up as myself. Mac Studo and Stusio Display
