Is the a way I can use mac the ripper to rip a DVD then be able to use imovie to edit out funny parts of movies to make my own DVD? I've looked at the folders but iMovie won't let me import them. Is there a way to do this?

Try using Handbrake to rip straight to .mp4, then import to iMovie for editing.

I use HandBrake and Quick Time Pro - crude but simple and cheap. Also, try changing the extension before you import. If it's .m4v change it to .mp4 - or vice versa.
