mac to hdtv

So I bought a new macbook pro last week, i have been using pcs many years so today i went and bought VGA lead stupidly without thinking, just wondering which lead is best for my MB.

would a normal hdmi to hdmi cable work or is their such a thing?

Any links would be great to where could buy it or if they sell it in pc shop it would be great to know what to ask for.
