I recently tried connecting my Mac (G4 Quicksilver running OSX 10.3) to my Philips LCD TV via a DVI-HDMI cable.
I'd set everything up by using a secondary TFT monitor to set the mirroring and resolution and everything was wonderful. However, once I'd powered everything down, removed the secondary monitor and walked away happy in the knowledge that I can now have a Mac in my living room with a huge screen, I came back to it later in the day to find that nothing worked! The only way I could get it to work again was by lugging my TFT monitor downstairs again so I could see what was happening as the TV wouldn't display a thing unless I went through the set up process all over again!
Please can anyone suggest any help as I'm about to give up on the idea! I just read a post that mentioned SwitchResX so would that answer my problem? Not tried it yet.
Many thanks
Gareth
