I got my imac to mirror to the 40" lcd tv. It seems fine n worked. BUT, I dont want to have the imac screen on and just want it on the LCD tv.
Anyway around this?
Im using the mirroring option

My imac is 1680 x 1050
my lcd is 1360 x 768
When in mirroring mode, The resolution is fine on lcd but on the imac its degraded to like 1024x768

When mirroring is off,my imac is back to normal on display but the lcd just shows the wallpaper n nothing else but the display settings window.

But If i can get the imac to not show while the lcd is on,that would be great since i dont want to have both on the same time.

I don't believe you can shut off the internal LCD on iMacs, like can be done on many (usually Windows) laptops.

This is normal operation. When using mirroring, the screens will display the highest common resolution. Since the LCD is lower resolution than the Mac scree, that's what you get on both.

When mirroring is off,my imac is back to normal on display but the lcd just shows the wallpaper n nothing else but the display settings window.

Again, perfectly normal. If you move a window or icon over to the LCD screen, it will show there, else you get just the desktop.

But If i can get the imac to not show while the lcd is on,that would be great since i dont want to have both on the same time.

Just turn the brightness all the way down on the iMac...
