Hi,
I have got the following setup:

11" MacBook Air 2013 with 802.11ac WLAN
and 13" Retina MacBook Pro 2014 with 802.11ac WLAN

both connected with an Airport Extreme which is the latest model with 802.11ac WLAN. Software is up to date on all devices (including the Airport Extreme).

Here is the kicker: I only get around 24 Megabyte/s transfer speeds between the Macs. I have selected 5GHz 802.11ac and both Macs are connected to the Airport Extreme and all devices are in the same room.

Do you have any idea why it is so slow?

First, you are limited to 867 Mb/s because the air is 2x2. Second, airport extreme is notoriously not a great performer. Third, there are a lot of other factors, like file size, that can affect transfer speeds.
