Mac turning itself off and resetting date & time

Hi all

I recently downloaded the latest software update for OSX onto my MacBook. The clock immediately reset itself. Now every time I use my MacBook it switches itself off after a while and the clock keeps resetting itself.

Anyone else having this problem?
 
I should add I'm now running OSX 10.6.8.
My iMac is still running 10.6.7 and I'm wondering whether I should update it or not.:confused:
