Wow! My account expires on October 3, and I was planning not to renew -- mainly because of not enough iDisk space. However, since I've actually already completed my transition to the new server, I think I'm not going to change my mind. Just a little too late, Apple!

.Mac up again, no changes!?

What's going on? I still belive .Mac is being updated as their was some rumour coming from Photokina expo in Colonge where Apple is exhibiting.

Edit:

This was published yesterday on German Mac site Mac Gadget:

"17:14 Uhr) .Mac: Bald 250 MByte Webspace und 100 MByte E-Mail-Platz".

Translation: .Mac 250 MB of webspace and 100 MB of storage for e-mails soon.

They also said they got this piece of information from an Apple representative at Photokina.

GREAT!!! Now I understand why my iBook crashed today while I was syncing the iDisk...

"Your iDisk space is bigger than the iDisk space in your computer"

I was wondering about that... great news!!!

So I got up and fond that my computer kept saying that my iDisk was not the right size??? I have mine synced. So I went into my system preferences to see what was up... :D 125MB not the 100MB... but then after going on .mac and reading here I find myself confused, 250?? why does mine only show 125? Is it a shared 250 between the emial and iDisk?

Size does matter!

I also noticed that my iDisk now is labeled with my username vs saying iDisk.. I like that much better.

You get 250MB in total. In your account settings at mac.com you can decide how you split this (see my screen cap above) between iDisk & Mail.

Thanks, I understand now :)

Okay, so I like how I can manage the account, allocating the space on my own. What I wish was that this space could also be shared with any email only accounts that I have, I currently have one, my wife's. Would be nice to be able to... okay getting ahead of myself here.

Just looked up the email only accounts and they are now 50MB vs, I think, the original 10MB :D

When .mac was down this afternoon, I took the time to send feedback to Apple asking for more storage. Lo and behold, it happened just a few minutes later! I think I might send feedback in a minute asking for a price cut on PowerBooks :D

Great news Apple, this will definitely make me renew my .mac as 250Mb is probably enough to keep me happy for 2-3 more years (I've just filled 100Mb with my photos over 2 years).

A step in the right direction for sure. If it was half the price I'd probably buy it (even though it might still be overpriced by many standards). I've just started to use it as a free trial over the last few days. It's great but not worth $100 US.

Still expensive for us Canucks...

I've had my .Mac service for 2 years now... I have a kid, and make use of the iPhoto integration practically weekly.

However, $160/year for a convenience is really steep. I'd jump at it if it was only $99...

Sorry Apple, but I think I might still cancel my subscription.

Kool look here all this is what should answer your questions. .mac

:D

Way kool i just got my account less than a month ago :)

This is great but certainly not all that has to be done is .Mac wants to stay in the game. We need more Apple, we need more!!!!

Uh....

Or get lucky and have a friend permit you to use some (most) of a 500MB hosting block. :D
