In front of my Mac
Now that XCode 4 preview 2 is out for paid mac/iphone programs I am thinking about enrolling myself in a developer program.

I am a bit surprised the Mac developer program has very little advantages over the iOS developer program, perhaps I am missing something: could you help me getting some insight?

As I see it:

iOS program
--------------
Early access to developer tools (XCode)
Ability to sign, submit and adhoc release iOS software (!!)
Pre-release of iOS SDK and OS
Support

Mac program
---------------
Early access to developer tools (XCode)
Pre-releases of OSX
osx server (?)
Support

So why would any mac developer get a mac program and not go for the iOS program because he then also gets the ability to create and submit ios apps in the future? Okay; you will not get the latest osx test version, but is that so bad?

I think I am missing somethere here, what are your thought?

thanks for moving moderator/administrator.

Personally, I wouldn't choose the Mac developer program over the iPhone program because it's only advantage is pre-release copies of OS X and related software. I am lucky enough to have both (paid for by work not me! :D), but I have never had a real need for the pre-relase copies. The iOS dev kit provides all the same resources as the mac kit as far as xCode and Documentation goes.

Thanks for your reply, that is what I was hoping to hear.
I think I'll go for the iOS developer program as well, if I even (and I will) want to create a iphone app at least I can!
