Mac vs. PC

In response to the conversation relating to Microsoft's new ad, I did a simple google search of "mac vs pc." What I found was a website dedicated to the reasoning of why Macs are better than PCs. I was by a guy who's school district was planning on switching from Mac to PC. Although this is from 2005 and is somewhat focused on how it relates to school, but his points are still valid.

this debate is so old and stale it's not worth bringing up again. People aren't going to switch because of a little tiff they saw on a forum somewhere. The best thing people anywhere can do is realise both Mac OS X and Windows have their place, and each system has its benefits and drawbacks.

Me neither. I can't take Mac users and their lame "Macs are better, and I can prove it" threads anymore.

It's so embarrassing to be a Mac user now. I'm actually a bit embarrassed to tell people I use one, but I've been using them for so long that perhaps I shouldn't have to. Perhaps all these "Oh man, Macs are so much better" people will get hit by nice, compact, individual meteors.
 
Oh dear god. PLEASE KILL ME. I've argued with arrogant ******s who said Macs rule because (insert cuss words here) and PC users are (insert cuss words here). And the same goes for PC users and "Macs suck because ______."

Why can't we have both? Like male/female? Yin-yang? Anyone?

Look Mac's are great yes but Windows has got some advantages like it has meGUI which is better than HandBrake in my opinion, it has Blu-ray/HD DVD ripping capability and it runs like no other (other than OS X:p) on Apple hardware. So there you have it Windows and OS X = Bliss (providing Windows is on Apple hardware, Made for Windows is crap:()
 
I hate it when people keep bringing up the age old argument of which is better. It makes Macintosh seem so horribly lowdown.

I meant that most people find their positive self image reinforced by those that think like they do, and conversely feel threatened by those who hold differing opinions. In some people this manifests itself as open hostility to competing opinions, denigration of those that hold those opinions, and attempts to proselytize others who don't share their opinions.

Not all members of any "herd" may partake in these activities, or find them acceptable, but many do. For instance:

90 + pages on MS's new ad about PC's costing less than Macs. Nothing noteworthy was added to the discussion after page 1, just reams of anecdotal evidence.
 
Ah ok, I thought you were talking about this thread. :p While some people just want to hear other people who feel the same way (who understand "the cause"), I think it kind of backfired for him in this thread. :p It's kind of nice to see for a change, but also a bit rough for the OP, unfortunately. Sorry about that.


Besides, the title of this thread is entirely loaded. I wouldn't suggest to anyone to post this topic here.
