I've been noticing my Mac wakes from sleep mode on it's own. I put it to sleep when I go to work, and when I return, the fan is going, and the power light is lit. It's awake. I never realized that I had Wake For Ethernet Access checked off. I had that unchecked before I updated to Mountain Lion. Guess it was turned on, among other things ML decided to do for you without your permission or knowledge when you upgraded.
My question is, since it wakes automatically because of the Ethernet Access, what would be causing to activate the ethernet connection? Should I be concerned that someone or something is trying to gain access to my computer via my router? I do regular malware, tracking cookies and virus maintenance. They never come up with anything residing in my system. Which makes me think it's just an attempt that doesn't find success. If, that is the case of why my Mac wakes from sleep automatically with Ethernet Access checked.
