I can't quite figure this out. I've a Windows 98 SE machine which access the internet with a serial ISDN terminal adaptor. I've got a Powerbook which I'd like to use this connection.. but that's all, I don't care about anything else on the PC, so I dont mind what sort of network I have to set up- all I want is the connection!
I've tried following the standard network tutorials but cant seem to get it right, it just wont let me connect. Does anyone have any ideas?

On the Windows side, I've enabled file sharing, set up the Internet Connection Sharing utility, and found the IP with winipcfg. The network card in the PC is old but seems to be working fine.

With the two hooked up via the ethernet cable, I hit Command+K and type in the IP address (or smb://IP address) but I've never been able to connect.

By the way: I'm using a standard network cable, and not a crossover because I've read that the PB will recognise that it's a crossover connection I want... But then again, when I've both both computers connected with the cable, my PB never recognises it and says "The cable for built-in Ethernet is not connected" - what gives?

I'll be back in Uni in September with an ideal setup, so I dont really want to have to buy a switch or router since this is really only a temporary solution.. if I can't figure out a way to use the 128k ISDN then I'll just have to survive with 56k!

Hope all my info is reasonably clear, and thanks for reading!

David
(Otherwise loving my PowerBook- backlit keyboard... why didn't I think of that?!)
