I have been faffing around with this for hours. I've scoured all the info on the interweb and tried everything that I could imagine might work but to no avail.
I just want to share a public folder with another mac on my network. OK so I have 'file' sharing turned on on both macs. I have both 'connected servers' and 'bonjour computers' selected in both macs sidebars.
When I open the public folder on either computer I can see it's a shared folder and the 'connecting' indication appears, then it changes to 'not connected'.
I tried to select the 'connect as server' and a dialog box comes up with my name filled out and a password field. However it rejects my password. The same thing happens from the other computer. I've tried using the other macs password in stead and the other user's name, but that also didn't work.
I'm sure there must be a simple solution but I am stumped.
any help appreciated.
