My mac gets an error whenever its about to burn an 8GB dvd+r DL the error is : "Burning the disc failed because of an unexpected error occured (Error code 0x80020000"

Also when I go to disk utility its not there :(

What brand of media are you using? Most burning issues are media related. Try Verbatim discs, which is what Apple sells at its stores.

I have had general trouble with HP dvd media.

Not, cd, but definitely dvd.

Verbatim is usually great. Sony as well. We used sony at the design firm I was working at for a long time. We had Macs ranging from 1.25ghz single G4 MDD towers to Intel MacPro...with powerbooks and everything else in between. Those two brands almost never failed us.

I bought a 5-pack of Verbatim DL DVD+R's and none of them worked.
