Hi,

Have a document I generated on my MAC using MS WORD.

Want to send it to a party that only has a W10 PC

What's the best way, if there is any ?

If they instal the free Libre Office suite, would this help ? Or,...?
I think, but am not absolutely sure, that there is a Libre suite for a W10 pc. Is there ?

As always, thanks for help,
Bob

If you created your document using Word on your Mac and send it as a word file type, anyone using a windows pc should be able to open it with Microsoft Word.

You shouldn’t need to convert the file.

Hi,

Thanks.
Potential problem is that the party with the W10 pc does not have MS WORD.

Was wondering if they installed the free Libre Office they could read my document which was created on a MAc
using MS WORD ?

Bob

The formatting may not end up exactly the same when using LibreOffice. Also, there is the issue of fonts…the recipient needs the same ones used by the sender.

If all the recipient needs to do is read the document you could save it as a PDF.

Then... find out what WP app your friend HAS.
Tell THAT to us.
Then we can offer more help.

The simplest way I can think of would be to
a. open MS Word on YOUR Mac
b. open the document in question
c. save/export it as "a text file".
d. send the text file ... almost ANYTHING can open a text file.

If the Word doc has images, you might try sending it as a "rich text" file ("plain" text files contain ONLY text, no images).
