Mac Word vs Windows Word

Hey guys,

I'm not sure why this is happening, but it's a strange phenomenon.

I formatted my resume with two columns and when I open the doc in the Windows version of Word, it lines up perfectly. I verified this with my friends. Then I open the same document in Mac Word and the columns don't line up.

I'm not sure why this is happening. It appears as though the formatting in Windows Word is not being fully translated into the Mac Word.

It's baffling and annoying because I have to open up VMWare Fusion, make changes, etc...

In my experience of using Word in Mac/PC office environments, few documents rarely present themselves in exactly the same way if the platform and version of Office are not identical.
With complex layouts, even PCs using different versions of Office couldn't display files identically.

It's one of the reasons I stopped using Office ages ago.

I've yet to have a single compatibility error. But I'd say Windows Office was the better one, its usually a little faster, smoother and feature complete due to it being on Microsoft's own OS.

What versions of Office are you using? What format are you saving/opening?
