Hey there,

This may seem stupid, but I sold my M1 Air. I didn’t like it. I wasn’t able to use BootCamp and it was too powerful for my uses. I’m a student and I use Office a lot, as well as FL Studio. Ocasionally, I use Photoshop and FCP/LPX. I am looking for 6-8 hours of battery life. I also would like a Mac that is supported for macOS 13-14 (to last me a couple more years). I figured that macOS 13 (Mammoth?) will support the Early 2016 12” and 2016 15” but macOS 14 will solely support the 2017 models (15”, 12”)? Just a guess. Maybe the Mid 2017 will last me longer. I ocasionally do light gaming (Sims 2 Complete Collection and The Sims 4). I wanted to know what you all thought, I did some asking around but I want your thoughts. I already own these Macs, but I want to know which to sell and which to keep.

Here are the two Macs I am considering as my daily drivers:

Option 1: MacBook 12” Retina 2017 i7 1.4GHz 16GB RAM 512GB

Option 2: MacBook Pro 15” Retina 2016 i7 2.6GHz 16GB RAM 256GB

The 12” has a one year warranty with no deductibles in case anything happens. However, the 15” is powerful. Keep in mind I do love the butterfly keyboard, and I understand all of the potential issues as I’ve previously owned 2016 and 2017 12” and 13” MacBooks.

So what do you think? Should I keep the portable 12” or keep the beefy 15”?
