My Macbook's dvd player will not play movies or run install cd's. It was perfectly fine when I bought it and then had to reinstall the OS and software and now it doesn't work. The cd player works, it can burn cd's, read cd's etc.. Just DVD Player gone missing. Please help!

How old is the computer? If old the use a cleaning disc as the slot loading drive loves dirt.

The DVD is not detected by the laptop. It makes a sound and then spits the dvd out. Gosh I'd hate to go out and buy another 400 dollar dvd drive. I can't watch movies or anything. Oh when I try to install software off of the DVD it won't work..

I have the same thing on my whitebook, I hope i can replace it soon!

same thing happens to me, if i put in a dvd it's trying to read it for a couple of seconds then spits it out, but cd's works fine idk why...
