Had issues the other night involving my Sierra Wireless Air card (normally not problematic, other then lag during online gameplay). Had Warcraft freeze up on me and had to hard restart the system. Everything seemed to boot find on restart, but nothing would work. I could get the air card connected, but couldn't open Warcraft, or the internet. I figured it was just the air card and went to bed. Next day same thing, still nothing.
I noticed my HD was making a weird noise when it tried to open the internet, before freezing and when right-clicking the safari icon, it would say program not responding on the top and I would have to "force quit" to close the program. Tried to open Warcraft, Preview, QuickTime and another program just to get the same result, HD making the same noise and the program not responding.
I tried to backup the system and it stopped about 1/4 thru and said a file was either read or write only and couldn't be saved. I manually saved all the files I needed to keep and found 2 or 3 specific files within the Warcraft folder that wouldn't save due to being "read or write only."
I do have an appointment for Friday afternoon to bring it to the apple store, although I don't have AC. Was trying to find my re-boot disks to see if I just corrupted some files, but they are MIA. But I keep going back to the noise the HD is making. I can't describe it other then saying it's not super loud and other then being repeatitive, it (to me) doesn't sound like a *bad* noise, but I know it doesn't sound right either.
I'm thinking it might be from the bad files, but I'm not a computer guru, so I don't know. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. I'm also waiting on the logic board to blow up on me after knocking a soda can over, spilling about 1/4-1/3 of the can into the laptop. Must say, Apple makes some resilliant computers.
*sorry for the long read*
