I'm having a problem with a macbook I got off of ebay (actually a lot of 2, I used 1 as a donor for the display). Anyway, the macbook in question is a mid 2009 model, codename K19l (get me schematics + boardview if you can
).
So, this macbook was pretty messed up. It was damaged in a moving accident, resulting in the screen shattering, keyboard denting, and then the metal frame that is welded to the LCD assembly split in half, and was torn out of the assembly. Thankfully all of the circuitry was fine.
Anyway, I got it running after I replaced the screen, and it was running fine for a couple months. It worked so well that I replaced my elitebook with it, not bad for a $220 computer, huh
Anyway, through my *very* extended testing (I resell and repair electronics as a hobby), I noticed the trackpad was becoming harder to press. I took it apart once again, fixed the trackpad, and this is where the problems began.
I started up the computer, went into OS X and the 6YHN column of keys wasn't working, as well as a couple other columns. I bought an entirely new top case & keyboard (through a friend of mine who is an AASP), and I installed it. I booted into OS X once again, and now A DIFFERENT column of keys is not working.
Needless to say, I'm about to beat this laptop with a hammer, since I'm so frustrated.
My last resort is a solder reflow of the GPU and CPU. What are the recomended temperature, and temperature profiles for reflowing the chips? If you can't tell me, just tell me how many degrees I should set my reflow station to.
