Am I the only one who is happy that Apple decreased (vertically) the humongous trackpad?

It's now easier for your palm to rest without accidental touches!

The review on this site said they moved the trackpad a bit to make it less likely to be accidentally touched.
I believe you're thinking of the Touch Bar. The Touch Bar was moved away from the keyboard by a fraction of a millimeter to avoid accidental touches.
 
For the familiar long list of reasons, I never left my 2015 MBP 15" - So, are my suspicions true? Does having an oversized trackpad cause issues with, say, typing (cursor suddenly jumping elsewhere)?

In my 3 years of use that has either never happened or I haven't noticed it happening.
