Macbook 2,1 (A1181) mic problem

I bought this laptop used. It came with 10.6.8 then i upgraded it from 80gig hard drive to a terabyte with 3 gigs of ram. Plus, i installed 10.8.4. When I tried out oovoo and skype, the mic was not working so I did my research and saw bits and pieces about the microphone having problems with 10.8.4 installed. So, I tried out SL again and still no results. I went to the sound settings on both OS's and turned the mic volume to max. There seems to be a slight change but the light only stays in the blue area. Please help me:confused::confused::(
 
Give it a good cleaning inside. I regularly buy older MacBooks and repair them for resale to family or friends. Bought a late 06 A1181 Blackbook, and it was filthy, in and out. Ton of debris in fan, all over logic board, and particularly the mic. Small soft brush will help. Dirt and debris will act as insulation and could cause problems.
