Hi everyone,
My first post on MR although I shall have to admit to being a long time lurker (over 10 years, having grown up in a mac household :apple: ). At the end of 2007 / early 2008 I was purchased my first mac, a Whitebook 2.1 (2GHz C2D, 1GB of ram (now upgraded to 2), and what I believe to be the problem here, an intel GMA 950)

During its life this computer has clocked up a lot of hours, and is looking rather battered around the edges, as of about 6 months ago it got relegated to 'family netbook' (maybe retired wold be a more considerate word...). Well when I turned it on yesterday I saw artifacts all over the screen, the white became pink and the temperatures were higher than usual (I replaced the thermal paste with AS5 about a year ago).

I have attached some pictures:

I just wanted to know whether you good people believed that this is the graphics chip dying or if you knew of this problem and any fixes
Many thanks in advance
Chris

It might be worth reapplying the AS5. Also, you *** really *** need to resize those images. Just awful!

Hi,

Sorry about the image size, I didn't know how to do, thanks whoever did. Changing the ram out didnt help but I'll check the cooling under the heatsink
