My first post on MR although I shall have to admit to being a long time lurker (over 10 years, having grown up in a mac household
). At the end of 2007 / early 2008 I was purchased my first mac, a Whitebook 2.1 (2GHz C2D, 1GB of ram (now upgraded to 2), and what I believe to be the problem here, an intel GMA 950)
During its life this computer has clocked up a lot of hours, and is looking rather battered around the edges, as of about 6 months ago it got relegated to 'family netbook' (maybe retired wold be a more considerate word...). Well when I turned it on yesterday I saw artifacts all over the screen, the white became pink and the temperatures were higher than usual (I replaced the thermal paste with AS5 about a year ago).

I just wanted to know whether you good people believed that this is the graphics chip dying or if you knew of this problem and any fixes
