I was wondering if anyone who bought a MacBook inthe last week or so could help me out. I am wanting to get a set of the restore DVDs that are currently being shipped with the most current MacBook. You should be able to tell by the version number printed on the restore DVDs. I have the disc version 1. I am hoping that some who just bought a new MacBook could tell me the restore disc version that came with their new MacBook.

I bought mine...

the last day of February '08, so that probably won't help. Sorry.

What's different between the restore disks from the last week and the week before?

Yeah, I have a 2.4 Macbook and I bought it right when it came out so was just wondering why he was looking for last week's restore disk.

He wanted to know the restore....

version for last week for some reason. I know from experience that Apple Support will ask for your MB model and serial number and ship a new set of install disks to your door for about $17 plus tax and it takes about 2-3 days from the day of ordering.

So if my macbook 2.4 originally came with an older revision of restore discs, I could call and get the newer revision? What's different between revisions?

I'm not sure...

but I'm certain there are differences in the Mac OS X, b/c older MBs' that were sold in say Aug '07 were shipped with Tiger 10.4 since Leopard came out in October '07. That's all I can figure. You may have to ask the OP.

we've got a good discussion going here. Here's what I know. As MacBooks are produced the restore discs they ship with are updated.

Well, I guess the point is to see what version the restore discs are on the most very recent MacBooks are. You can also tell the week and year your MacBook was produced. The 3rd digit in the serial number is the year, and the 4th & 5th numbers are the week.
