I have had USB DACS hooked up to my my 2008 MacBook Alum for quite sometime now. I have Bifrost DAC and a portable Arcam DAC in turn connected to a Denon receiver going to a pair of B&W speakers. I have enjoyed many hours of wonderful music with this setup. And suddenly, out of the blue starting yesterday, my MacBook doesn't recognize both DACs anymore. The DACs don't appear under System Pref>Sound, nor Audio Midi. They are not listed under About This Mac>System Report>USB. System Report does list a Western Digital External HDD & iSight under High Speed Bus. And I have tried rebooting, plugging & unplugging, switching USB ports etc. I also have not moved my gear around for a while now. And there hasn't been any Apple Software Update since this happened.

Any help will be appreciated.



SOLVED: It's faulty USB cable. I replaced it with a new, el cheapo USB cable, and the system comes alive again. Sometimes, the simplest solution is...
