Macbook 2008 - Mail won't work and freezes computer

Hi guys,

I have a macbook from 2008 and everytime I open up the mail application it freezes. Usually it will think and then an error message will come up asking if I want to quit altogether or quit and try again. If I quit altogether my computer goes back to the view prior to opening up the mail server but if I pick the latter then it just thinks for a while and freezes the computer. What do you think is happening?

I had a similar problem with Mail a year ago. Turned out it had to do with RSS feeds. I removed all RSS feeds from Mail and have been good ever since.
