macbook 2010 trackpad

Today I just got this computer. I used time machine to restore my old mac to this one. I am having problems with tracpad I use 2 or more fingers on it and it won't move? I though we can use up to 4 fingers am I wrong?

The cursor wont move if you use more than 2 fingers. The 3 finger and 4 finger gestures are for other actions, not moving your cursor.

1 finger is used for moving the cursor.

2 fingers are used for scrolling up/down and sideways.

3 fingers are used to browse back and foward in a web browser and to jump to the bottom/top of a page.

4 fingers are for rolling up all windows (up) and for switching between apps.
