My macbook bought in mid 2011, so only just over a year and a half old, is now only appearing with the blue/grey screen and the apple logo that is (usually) apart of the power up process, when i turn it on.

This first happened when I went to turn it on to use it, and it appeared with this screen as I have described, with some code like words on the screen. Im not an extremely tech savy person so I have no idea what this meant.

I held down the power off button, turned it off, turned it back on again and now the blank screen with the apple logo is what is happening each time I turn it on.

For a few months now it has been saying my battery is in "Condition: Replace Soon" but I am under the impression that your laptop will still work if the battery is dead (needs replacing, not flat) plugged into the power outlet.

Unsure what has caused this/what I need to do to fix this :(
