Hi there, and thanks in advance for all the knowledge you guys are willing to share!
Sadly - due to a number of incompatibilities I am forced to upgrade the OS of my 2 main devices:
Macbook Pro Mid 2012 currently on 10.13.6
Iphone XR currently on ios 13.6.1
Being a happy camper with this combination for years, runnning almost perfectly my icloud apps (notes is my brain!), Logic Pro X (yes, I´m in Audio),Ms Office, Fotos, itunes - I´m scared to do the upgrade:

Macbook can run 10.15 / Catalina
Iphone has to run 16.2. - no other available

All advice on compatiblity, sync issues and draw backs is highly welcome!
(Just to point in the right direction: I know how to technically perform upgrades and backups - I´m a 30 years mac user)

Thanks again!!

Mac: With any upgrade you need to check the compatibility of all your apps and devices. In particular you may have 32-bit apps which will not work with 10.15

Thanks gilby for your reply. Just checked and mainly relevant seems to be:
Only 64bit
No more itunes
Compatibility with Fotos app ..

Is there no way for you to sidestep those incompatibilities? You won’t like the iPhone Xʀ’s battery life on iOS 16, especially when you’ve been used to iOS 13 for so long. My main iPhone is an iPhone Xʀ running iOS 12, believe me when I say I understand.

BE AWARE that you can STILL RUN iTunes on newer Macs or newer OS's.

There's an ingenious piece of freeware out there called "Retroactive" that will install iTunes on these newer Macs.

And... it works fine.
Just like "before"...

If it was me...
I'd upgrade to OS 10.14 "Mojave" and let it go at that.
Mojave is one of the best OS releases ever.
Still using it as I type this on my 2018 Mini.
