Hi, Ultrafine 4k is compatible in native resolution with MacBook 2016, but on the official Apple page there is no word for MacBook and LG Ultrafine 5k compatibility. Whether someone tried to use Ultrafine 5k with MacBook 2016? I want to buy LG Ultrafine 5k before new MacBook Pro, so I need to check if I can use it meanwhile with MacBook 2016 or MacBook Pro 2014.

I think you can use it, but it will default to 4K resolution instead of 5k. Macbook can't drive 5K display, and macbook still doesn't have TB3 support. But if you plan on purchasing Ultrafine, it would be a good idea to buy it asap, while they are still on discount :)

I read several support docs from Apple on the 5K Ultrafine before buying the 4K. It is my understanding that the 5K requires Thunderbolt 3 or 2 with USB-C adapter. USB-C only Macs are not supported.
