My superdrive died and purchased a replacement through eBay, Panasonic UJ-857C as most of you recommended. when connecting the power it is completely off, no sound of moving or doing anything, if I reconnect the faulty one, OK it doesn't take DVDs in but sounds life signs. Do you know if replacement DVDRW need special handling when connecting, cable or jumpers, etc; or mine is DOA and that's it.
Thanks

Sounds like the replacement is DOA - MacBook optical drives are not quiet and it will look for an optical disk when it starts up.
