I have a 13" white macbook 3,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo) and I would like to replace the topcase piece. I don't care if the replacement is white or black--I'd kind of like to put in a black one--but I'm not sure which version to buy, as I keep seeing two different models available on eBay. Apple has replaced it all twice for me in the past, but I know I can do it myself and don't really want to shell out $250 bucks again.

I have a finicky parrot who sometimes gets ahold of the keyboard when I'm not looking, so this isn't really about the topcase cracking, although the right corner has cracked on all 3 topcases I've had thus far.

I was hoping someone could help me out with the model I need to purchase--and any other tips, if you're willing.

Thanks!

The top case you need is normally referred to as V3 - silver ribbon

Just check that the F6 key does not have a "num lock" on it and that the F7 to F12 keys are for media and volume.....

Pity about the parrot !!

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed. Cheers!
