There is no sound (even on chimes at start up). No red light. Volume controls still respond graphically and the menues seem fine as well. Took it into the apple store today and they ran tests, could not find any problems. Told me to replace logic board because they thought audio jack is screwed up and it's preventing any audio from playing aside from a weird noise. The "weird noise" is a faint "squeaching" noise coming from the top left corner around where the mic is and seems to occur when sound is suppose to be playing (i.e youtube) . I also took a recording from the internal mic and listened to it on another computer, sounds like "click click click click click".
Do I give up?
